Choose Your Care

At CHA you have choices - for prenatal care, where to give birth and with what kind of provider.

As a Harvard teaching hospital, you will find highly trained providers at all our locations. Our culturally sensitive care includes providers who speak many languages, interpreter support in 150 languages and doulas for added intimate support.

The Maternity Suite and Level I nursery at CHA Cambridge Hospital allow you to receive tender and thoughtful care during labor, delivery and your postpartum stay. Each of our large rooms has a Jacuzzi tub and TV, and many rooms have views of downtown Boston. You’ll have access to our 24-hour Anesthesia Service. And your new baby will be in good hands with our 24-hour Pediatrics team from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Come See For Yourself
Meet our caring staff and visit the McGovern Maternity Suite. Tours are given the first and third Wednesday of every month (except the Wednesday before Thanksgiving) at 6:00 p.m. Learn what to expect before you come to the hospital to deliver your baby.

CHA Cambridge Birth Center

You can receive prenatal care and have your baby with Midwives. Our intimate, warm, home-like setting is right across the street from the hospital. That's why so many women having a low risk pregnancy see us as a great choice.

Why Choose the Cambridge Birth Center?

  • Comfort: Our rooms provide all the amenities you want during your birth experience including jacuzzi bathtubs, a family room, kitchen, living room, garden and elevator. You can get all of your prenatal care in our private exam rooms with access to a child’s play area.
  • Movement: During your labor, you will have the freedom to move about the home, including in the garden.
  • A Warm Touch: When you choose the Cambridge Birth Center, you are choosing to give birth with a midwife. Your midwife understands your personal and cultural needs and provides the caring touch that puts you at the center of your childbirth experience.
  • Families Welcome: Your midwife will include your family in your childbirth experience based on what you want.
  • The Cambridge Birth Center is fully accredited by the American Association of Birth Centers and is a Baby Friendly Facility based on the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nation Children's Fund (UNICEF) guidelines.
