Adult Psychiatry - Outpatient Care

When mental health affects your life, or the people around you, it may be time to seek help. At CHA, we don't judge. Our job is simply to try to help you feel better.

Adults from across the Boston Metro region turn to CHA for outpatient care and support. Every day, we help people with anger, anxiety and depression, and people coping with trauma or addiction.

Help is available based on your needs. These may include short-term care at your CHA primary care center or ongoing therapy and support at a CHA mental health clinic. Individual therapy and medication management are available, as well as group therapy and psychological testing.

Integrated Services in Primary Care

Your primary care center may be the best place to start for mental health needs. Every care center has therapists, care managers and psychiatrists. They help understand your health needs and may suggest medication or counseling. They also connect patients and families with mental health specialty teams for ongoing care.

During your primary care visit, you may be asked about health risks like depression, anxiety, alcohol use, addiction and tobacco. This helps connect you with services if and when you need.

Knowing How to Help

Cambridge Health Alliance has been a leader in mental health for more than 20 years. Our adult psychiatry teams provide caring and compassion. We also have deep connections within the community. This lets us recommend "wrap-around care" if you need it. We will help you access expert mental health care at CHA and beyond - giving you the tools and resources to manage your emotions and any chronic health concerns.

Your Culture, Your Language

CHA is proud to serve patients from across the globe. That’s why we offer bilingual providers and interpreters in 75 languages, including patients who are deaf or hard of hearing. This makes mental health care more accessible for patients who may be hesitant to seek out these services. Emotional Healing and Wellness Staff at CHA genuinely care about adults and their families during difficult times. We get to know our patients, work to understand their needs and how we can help to achieve better health. We also use state-of-the-art research to inform our treatment plans.

Unparalleled Staff

Most of our doctors and social workers are on the faculty of Harvard Medical School. This gives you access to some of the best clinical care teams in our convenient neighborhood care centers.
