Wearing Masks at CHA

January 12, 2026

The Mass. Department of Public Health is reporting "very high and rising" levels of flu across the state, leading to a significant increase in hospitalizations, emergency visits, and several deaths. As a result, CHA and many other local health systems are reinstating measures to protect our most vulnerable patients.

Effective Monday, January 12, 2026, the following policy will be in place:

For Staff: Masking is mandatory for all staff in patient care areas.

For Patients and Visitors: Masks are required for everyone in our Infusion Clinics and our Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit at CHA Everett Hospital (Lewis 2). Masks are strongly encouraged in all other CHA areas.

You can get a high-quality mask at all facility entrances.

Other Safety Reminders:

  • Stay Home if Sick: Any visitor with a fever, cough, sore throat, or other symptoms should reschedule your visit.

  • Get Vaccinated: It’s not too late to get your flu shot!
