The thoracic surgery team at CHA diagnoses, prevents and treats diseases of the chest, from throat to lung cancer. Our team of surgeons offers expert care at our Cambridge and Everett locations. When possible, we use methods which can reduce pain and scarring and lead to a faster recovery.
Whether you’re having a test for a possible cancer, the removal of a tumor, a hernia repair or other procedure, we’ll make sure you understand your care and know what to expect. Our goal is for you to feel comfortable and confident at every step.
Your Care at its Best
Minimally invasive surgery
We may be able to use a minimally invasive surgical technique for your lung or other chest surgery, which can make recovery easier. One of these techniques is video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). In this method, a tiny video camera is inserted into the patient's chest, giving us a close-up view of the area being operated on. It’s just one of the many powerful tools and techniques we use today at CHA.
A partnership with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical
The head of the thoracic surgery team, Dr. Jennifer Wilson, is on staff at both CHA and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. If you need thoracic surgery that can’t be performed at CHA, Dr. Wilson may be able to do the surgery in Boston, and then provide your follow-up care back at CHA. It’s the best of both worlds.
