    Dr. Forstein attended The College of Medicine, University of Vermont after a career of teaching high school English, where he developed a lifelong interest in teaching and education. He completed an internship at Presbyterian Hospital, Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and his residency in psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He teaches medical students and is a core faculty member in the Division of Palliative Care at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Forstein has been a principal investigator on an HIV Education and Training Grant through the federal Center for Mental Health Services, and teaches and has published on the neuropsychiatry and psychosocial aspects of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

    He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and he chaired the Steering Committee on HIV Psychiatry for the APA for over 20 years, and now serves on the APA Council of Education and Life Long Learning. He was elected to the Assembly of the American Psychiatric Association from 2014-2016 He served a six year term on the Residency Review Committee for Psychiatry of The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education until 2014. He served as Acting Chair of the Department of Psychiatry from August 2015 - September 2019.

    Dr. Frank is a graduate of Swarthmore College and Harvard Medical School. She completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency at Cambridge Health Alliance, where she served as Chief Resident in Medical Education. Prior to pursuing a medical career, Dr. Frank also worked professionally in theater and education. Dr. Frank’s clinical interests include work with underserved populations, emergency psychiatry, and the integration of psychotherapy approaches into diverse treatment settings. Her academic interests include curriculum development and medical education research.

    Before returning to Cambridge Health Alliance as Training Director, Dr. Frank worked at the University of Minnesota, where she taught both medical students and residents and served as the Associate Program Director for the Adult Psychiatry Residency. Dr. Frank is an active member of the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training and serves on the AADPRT Psychotherapy Committee.

  • Laura Warren, MD

    Dr. Warren is a graduate of Wesleyan University and University of Pittsburgh Medical School.  She completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency at Cambridge Health Alliance.  Prior to pursuing a medical career, Dr. Warren worked professionally in non-profit education and as an English teacher.  She also pursued additional training in medical acupuncture during her psychiatry residency. Her clinical interests include working with diverse populations, mindfulness-based interventions, and holistic approaches to mental health.  Her academic interests include wellness/burnout prevention, mindfulness-informed approaches to patient care, and the mind/body relationship.

    Prior to joining the residency training office in 2019, Dr. Warren worked briefly in the outpatient department at Mount Auburn Hospital, and then returned to Cambridge Health Alliance, where she worked in the outpatient department for 8 years, and concurrently in the integrated primary care setting for 5 years. During that time, she was involved in supervising/teaching residents in a number of capacities. Since 2014, she has been involved in various leadership roles at the Center for Mindfulness and Compassion (CMC) at Cambridge Health Alliance since its inception, including leading group-based mindfulness treatments for patients and supporting trainees interested in learning mindfulness

    Jess Collier grew up in Somerville and has worked at Cambridge Health Alliance for over ten years, including an eleven-year tenure in the Department of Pediatrics as a patient access representative and an administrative coordinator. She transitioned to the CHA Department of Psychiatry in 2017, when she assumed the role of administrative assistant to the Directors of Outpatient Psychiatry and Addictions at the Central Street Clinic. She has been the Program Administrator for the Adult Psychiatry Residency Program since April 2018. In the Residency Administrator role, Jess has led efforts to improve multiple training office functions including intern onboarding, resident licensing, and overall organization.
