CHA yoga classes are taught by certified instructors and designed for all ability levels. To ensure your safety, you should be cleared for exercise by your doctor and be able to get up and down from the ground without assistance.

About Our Instructors

Danae Laura

Danae Laura, Yoga InstructorDanae Laura is a RYT200, scholar, activist and teacher. She enjoys teaching beginners to build their practice, and advanced students to attune their sense of subtlety. Danae has been practicing yoga for twenty years and teaching for eight. She has made a home at CHA, and appreciates practicing alongside employees and patients. Danae prides herself in retaining longterm students and developing bonds between students through a communal sense of purpose and practice.

Although an athlete, she teaches yoga from the perspective of all the benefits we gain from moving slowly and connecting deeply.

She is at Lesley University earning her Masters in Mindfulness, and she collaborates with the nonprofit CMind, the Contemplative Mind in Society, which provides a meeting and teaching space for professionals bringing contemplative studies to higher education across the globe. Danae also works with Cultural Survival to partner with Indigenous Peoples. All of her efforts incorporate racial justice, and she intends for her classes to be a home for everybody and all bodies. Monia Fernandez

Monia Fernandez, Yoga InstructorYoga for Monia is a practice of measure, discipline, fluidity & structure. This practice is a tool for her to allow herself to understand the dynamic of how she functions as a human in this world. How she holds herself up, how she navigates. Without tools, there is no way to refine. So she uses this practice to continue to refine. To take measures. To hold her ground well.

Yoga, for Monia, has been one of the many tools that has been transformative for her throughout her experience with endometriosis. She uses different practices of yoga to honor the fact that her body is not the same on any given day and sometimes, the level of discomfort she feels may be minor or maybe major - but her body & mind still deserves to move. She still deserves a practice. This chronic illness isn’t a punishment, it’s just a part of a whole mechanism that needs just a bit more love and attention.

200hr Yoga Teacher & Yoga Therapist in training. Advocating for an individual's agency so that they can be seen and feel better within their own human experience. Acknowledging the importance of being adaptable, while understanding that I will not change a person, but will refine the stories their bodies tell.

Yoga Frequently Asked Questions

  • This is my first yoga class, what should I do?

    If you are new to yoga and concerned about participating, please email wellness@challiance.org to connect with an instructor.

  • Do I have to have previous yoga experience?

    Our yoga classes are designed for all levels. You will never be encouraged to do any position you are not comfortable with and alternative poses are available.

  • What should I wear?

    We recommend students wear loose, form fitting clothing that you feel comfortable moving in. Shoes and socks are not recommended as they can cause you to slip.

  • What supplies do I need?

    Yoga mats, blocks, and straps are a best practice. But if you do not have these available, simply find a non-skid surface in your house (such as carpeting) or outdoors. A dish towel can also be used in place of a strap to support poses. A pillow or folded blanket / towel can be used instead of a block.

  • Where are the classes located?

    All CHA yoga classes are virtual (or online) at this time. There are no in-person classes.

  • Are chair yoga classes available?

    Chair yoga classes are not available at this time. However if you have limitations but are cleared to exercise by your doctor, please talk to the instructor about accommodations.

  • How intense are classes?

    Our yoga classes are designed to be inclusive for all levels. You will never be encouraged to do any position you are not comfortable with an alternative poses are often available. Instructors offer a variety of poses to accommodate all ability levels.

  • Are there any limits to how many classes to attend?

    There are no limits to how many classes people can attend. Each class is available to the first 100 people who register.
