Asian Mental Health Program

Getting an Appointment

It's necessary to have a CHA Primary Care Provider in order to be seen in Psychiatry. Please contact your Primary Care Provider to request that they place a referral. Inpatient Psychiatry providers can call 617-591-6033 to schedule a post admission follow up visit.

The Asian Mental Health Program is a special program for people from Asia and the Indian sub-continent. Our work covers the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work, and family therapy. We provide care in a safe and sensitive setting.

Our staff understands the Asian and Indian cultures. We speak many languages including Japanese, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and several Indian dialects. We also have interpreters available for all other Asian languages.

Our programs deal with common, everyday issues including:

  • stress anxiety and panic attacks
  • trauma depression
  • child behavior/learning problems adapting to life in the U.S.
  • marriage and relations issues
  • family violence loss of a loved one dealing with mental illness

Please note: Due to a high demand for our services, CHA is prioritizing appointments for patients who are either enrolled in Primary Care at CHA or are residents of our service area (Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Revere, Somerville, and Winthrop, MA). If you or your child do not meet these criteria, our staff may be able to assist you in finding a referral service.

Haitian Mental Health Program

Getting an Appointment

Our program provides confidential emotional support to the Haitian community from people who understand the Haitian language and culture.

We help people understand their needs, and achieve their goals in a safe and sensitive environment. Our services are provided in Haitian Kreyol and English by bicultural professionals from the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work and nursing.

Since 1985 we have worked with many Haitians and Haitian-Americans in the following ways:

  • We have talked with adults, children and teenagers about their feelings and life situations.
  • We have helped families and couples work through their problems.
  • We have evaluated children and adults to determine their need for services.

Latino Mental Health Program

The Latino Mental Health Program is a special program for people from Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America. Our work covers the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work, and family therapy. We provide care in a safe and sensitive setting. Our staff speaks Spanish and English.

  • child behavior/learning problems
  • adapting to life in the U.S.

Portuguese Mental Health Program

The Portuguese Mental Health Program is a special program for people from Portugal, Brazil, and Cape Verde. Our work covers the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work, and family therapy. We provide care in a safe and sensitive setting.
