Occupational Health Services

Occupational & Environmental Medicine Clinic

Our doctors evaluate and treat people who have been exposed to chemicals or toxic substances or have experienced on-the-job injuries.

Our staff is board certified in both internal medicine and occupational and environmental medicine. We see people who are self-referred, or referred by physicians, lawyers, unions, insurance companies and agencies.

Common conditions we see include exposures to lead, mercury, arsenic, pesticides, solvents, indoor air contaminants, and other toxins. We also see people with musculoskeletal problems, such as repetitive strain injuries.

We also arrange and interpret environmental assessments, and assist with worker compensation issues.

Independent Medical Exams (IME)

CHA conducts Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) and chart reviews for Governmental Agencies, Insurance Companies, Corporations, IME organizations and Attorneys. Our staff is board-certified in Occupational Medicine and trained in Internal Medicine.

  • Fitness For Duty Evaluations
  • Disability Evaluations
  • Special expertise in "chemical sensitivities", "toxic mold" and latex allergy cases

This service is led by Stefanos Kales, MD, who has the clinical skills and expert knowledge of the literature and workers compensation systems. His work as Medical Director at an institution with more than 5,000 employees make him uniquely qualified to produce superior and influential reports. Dr. Kales' reports are timely, objective and detailed. Moreover, they yield scientific, objective, consistent and most importantly, convincing opinions. He also has significant experience with deposition testimony.

DOT Exams

We provide federally mandated Department of Transportation services to many local and national employers.

We are pleased that our physicians are listed in the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME). The NRCME lists medical examiners who have been trained, tested and certified to perform medical examinations for commercial motor vehicle drivers in interstate commerce.

Our certified Medical Examiners fully understand the medical standards in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations and how they relate to the medical demands of operating a commercial motor vehicle.
