  • Fellowship Director - Andrea E. Gordon, MD
    Associate Professor of Family
    Medicine, Tufts University

Andrea Gordon, MD, is board certified in Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine. She is Director of Integrative Medicine for the Tufts University Family Medicine Residency Program and responsible for the design and implementation of the Integrative Medicine Curriculum. Dr. Gordon began to question our current medical model as a second-year resident, noticing that we didn't "fix" very much, we just slowed disease processes. As she investigated other modalities and was exposed to practitioners who used models that looked at the whole person and considered using multiple approaches she was drawn to further investigate this new kind of medicine.

She went on to complete faculty development and Integrative medicine fellowships, as well as additional training in modalities such as osteopathic manipulation and mind-body medicine. Her goal is to make integrative medicine a core part of family medicine, teaching students and residents the value of the additional tools and whole-person approach that integrative medicine provides. Dr. Gordon is a founding board member of the group, Integrative Medicine for the Underserved (IM4US). Her commitment to making integrative medicine and non-conventional modalities available to all, regardless of socio-economic status, underlies her plan to expand the pool of teachers who will train more physicians to teach and offer integrative health. She has authored articles and book chapters and has contributed to humanities publications such as Pulse, Voices from the Heart of Medicine (Pulsevoices.org).

Tia Tucker, MD, MPh is the residency Director of Health Equity. A native of southwest Louisiana, who always knew she wanted to be a physician, but her passion around social justice, international health, and activism led her in a circuitous route to becoming an MD. After serving two years in the Peace Corps working in Youth Development, she realized how important public health matters to improving health outcomes in low resource areas, and decided to return to Louisiana to study public health at Tulane. Tia's work in housing rights and HIV prevention during that time only cemented the fact that structural violence, racism, homophobia and social influencers of health constantly prevented people from getting the care they needed. She decided that she needed to study medicine in an environment that would teach her to fight this injustice through medicine. In Cuba, she trained in Spanish, with opportunities in real life epidemics as she worked through both Dengue and Cholera epidemics. At the residency program, she is the Director of Health Equity, and enjoys designing educational opportunities with residents as well as speaking to medical students and working with community partners to advocate for health for all.

Drs. Jessica Early, Dr. Clinton Pong and Dr. Randi Sokol, and Dr Robert Caiazzo, all based at the Malden site, have completed the Master Teacher Fellowship, and most of the other teaching faculty have completed clinical or faculty development fellowships.
