This includes surgeons from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center who see patients at CHA. The department also offers open access scheduling, giving patients easy access to appointments, at the Cambridge Breast Center, CHA Eye Center and surgery clinics at CHA hospitals in Cambridge, Somerville and Everett. Dr. Swanson received his MD from Harvard Medical School in 1980. He completed his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1987 and a surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1989.

Dr. Swanson’s mission-driven values extend beyond the workplace, as he currently serves as an associate professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School. He also holds membership in the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, Society of Surgical Oncology, Pancreas Club and the New England Surgical Society.  Dr. Swanson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
