Cambridge Health Alliance Named Official Healthcare Provider of the Boston Blades

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is proud to announce a new partnership with the Boston Blades of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL). CHA will be the official hospital, team doctor, and physical therapy partner of the Blades for the 2014-2015 CWHL season.

Boston Blades logoThe Boston Blades are an elite women’s professional hockey team featuring Olympic athletes from both Team USA and Team Canada. In 2013, the Blades became the second U.S. team to win the Clarkson Cup, the women's equivalent of the men's Stanley Cup. Captained by two-time Olympic silver medalist and CWHL MVP Hilary Knight, the Blades play most of their home games at the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Board-certified family and sports medicine physician Jessica Knapp, DO, is the Blades’ official team physician, with support from CHA’s rehab team, physical therapist Nick Wilson, and sports medicine physicians Jason Freedman, MD, and David Wing, MD. Dr. Knapp completed her sports fellowship at the University of Connecticut with a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine and completed family medicine training at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Wilmington. She has provided sports medicine services for a variety of events and teams, including the IRONMAN Lake Placid, the Connecticut Sun of the Women’s National Basketball Association, and U.S. Soccer/Gold Cup.

CHA delivers expert sports medicine services across the Boston area and currently serves as the official healthcare provider for Lesley University, the Mystic River Rugby Club, Revere and Malden High Schools, and Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. CHA Assembly Square Care Center, a state-of-the-art, 23,000-square foot facility in Somerville, is one of the region’s premier bone and joint centers, offering orthopaedics, sports medicine, occupational therapy, physical therapy, athletic training, and speech therapy services.
