CHA Honored by 2023 WWCMA WorkWell Massachusetts Awards

Community health system recognized for successful corporate health improvement and well-being program

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a community health system serving Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston's metro-north region, has received an Honorable Mention for the 2023 WorkWell Massachusetts Awards for exemplary worksite health promotion from the Worksite Wellness Council of MA (WWCMA), powered by Healthiest Employers. This honor recognizes CHA's achievements in providing best-in-class programs and supporting employees through a culture of well-being. It is CHA's ninth WorkWell award from the WWCMA and 15th award overall since the program began in 2007.

CHA's Employee Wellbeing program focuses on community and connection, mental and emotional health, protection from harm, opportunity for growth, financial health, and physical health. Annual offerings include virtual live yoga classes, home-buying and refinancing seminars, cooking classes, mindfulness offerings, local CSA opportunities, discounts for Bluebike memberships, free Headspace memberships, and more. Additionally, the program hosts a variety of internal engagement and community-building events such as team health challenges, a company cookbook, arts and well-being programming at the Museum of Fine Arts, and more.

Rachael Cross, wellbeing manager at CHA, attributes much of the program's success to support from employees, partners, and department leaders. "From our executive sponsorship to our Wellbeing Ambassador team, there is a real passion to create a workplace that we're excited to come to every day," she said. "This program is successful because of that passion, support, and engagement from people across CHA."

"It is truly an honor to recognize organizations from Mass. that are leading their industry in corporate workplace wellness and uncovering sustainable and meaningful ways to impact the lives of their employees and families," said Barb Petersen, WWCMA Board director and Awards & Recognition Committee co-chair.

WorkWell Massachusetts Awards is a corporate award program created by WWCMA, a not-for-profit member organization dedicated to advancing worksite wellness programs. WWCMA is partnering with Healthiest Employers, recognizing people-first organizations with a proactive approach to employee health.

"Our people truly believe in our mission, vision, and values, which fuels the well-being of our teams; there is a real shared purpose in what we do. We are weaving employee well-being into programming and training wherever possible," said Joy Curtis, CHA's chief human resources officer. "Our new Wellbeing strategic plan encompasses whole-person and workplace systems in innovative and creative ways. With a strong focus on mental and emotional health, building community, and improving safety, we are building a workplace where everyone can thrive."

CHA will be recognized for its best practices in employee health and well-being and receive its WorkWell Massachusetts Award at a special celebration event on Wednesday, December 13 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Trillium Brewery in Canton, Mass.
