CHA Names John O'Hara as Vice President of Primary Care Operations

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), an academic community health system serving Cambridge, Somerville and Boston’s metro-north region, has named John O’Hara its new Vice President of Primary Care Operations. He comes to CHA with healthcare executive experience in physician enterprise, community hospital, ambulatory care, academic medical center, and managed care organizations.

Mr. O’Hara has demonstrated an ability to align providers and staff and other stakeholders around a vision focused on organizational transformation, innovation, growth, and continuous improvement, with an unwavering commitment to patient safety, quality, service and access. He is excited to work with CHA Primary Care in achieving these goals for patients, including those most vulnerable to the changing healthcare coverage landscape.

Most recently, Mr. O’Hara served as Hallmark Health’s System Vice President and President of Hallmark Health Medical Associates, a multi-specialty physicians group serving communities north of Boston. At Hallmark, he was responsible for restoring the system’s primary care and specialty provider network by building a highly-regarded employed physician group of approximately 100 providers.

Prior to that role, Mr. O’Hara held leadership positions with The Cardiovascular Specialists, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, and Winchester Hospital. At Winchester Hospital, he served as the Executive Vice President and was responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the full service 223-bed acute care community hospital. He also practiced law at Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Mr. O’Hara graduated from Boston College with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and received his Master of Healthcare Administration from George Washington University.  He earned a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University School of Law. Mr. O’Hara has been active in local civic organizations and is a member of the American Medical Group Association, American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Massachusetts and DC bar.
