CHA is recognized as a leader for excellence in nursing in psychiatric/behavioral health care
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a community health system serving Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston's metro-north communities, announced it has received the 2025 Human Experience (HX) National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI®) Award for Outstanding Nursing Quality® by Press Ganey, the global leader in healthcare experience solutions and services. This award, which honors the inpatient psychiatry units at CHA’s Somerville Campus, is part of Press Ganey’s annual ranking of the top hospitals and health systems in the country, according to performance in nursing quality.
In 2022, CHA opened the Center for Inpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at its Somerville Campus. The center is a key component of CHA's efforts to address the critical need for acute psychiatric care in Massachusetts and add new services to support high-risk populations. With 69 beds spread across three units, including a multidisciplinary Neurodevelopmental Disorders Unit, CHA provides transformative care for diverse youth with mental health needs in specially-designed therapeutic settings. It is one of the largest providers of child and adolescent inpatient mental health services in the state.
As a winner of the Press Ganey HX NDNQI® Award for Outstanding Nursing Quality®, CHA is one of eight healthcare organizations nationally to be honored for providing outstanding nursing quality. Press Ganey works with more than 41,000 healthcare facilities in its mission to reduce patient suffering and enhance caregiver resilience to improve the overall safety, quality and experience of care.
We have an amazing team of caregivers at the Somerville Campus -- nurses, milieu counselors, providers, rehabilitation staff, and leaders – who deliver exceptional, individualized care while striving for the safest possible environment for their patients and colleagues," said Lanie Ward, MBA, BSN, RN, CHA’s chief nursing officer. We are grateful for this recognition showcasing our commitment to our community and dedication to the care of children and adolescents needing psychiatric care."
