CHA celebrates the opening of CHA One Cabot Care Center

CHA opens its first Medford location and its first care center in 15 years

MEDFORD, Mass. - This month, Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a community health system serving Cambridge, Somerville and Boston's metro-north communities, opened its newest location at One Cabot Road in Medford. CHA One Cabot Care Center is CHA's first new care center in 15 years and its first site in Medford.

CHA One Cabot Care Center has approximately 56,000 square feet of clinical space and will include CHA Primary Care, Rehab, Orthopaedics, Occupational Health, and Pharmacy. The center replaces CHA Assembly Square Care Center in Somerville, which closed this month.

On June 2, CHA One Cabot Care Center welcomed its first primary care patients, with the Bone and Joint Center and Occupational Health scheduled to open later in June. A new CHA Pharmacy will open in July, with a procedure suite to follow this fall. Services at CHA One Cabot Care Center will include:

  • CHA Primary Care, formerly known as Union Square Family Health, with 17 primary care providers, will now be located at CHA One Cabot Care Center.
  • Starting later in June, the Bone and Joint Center will open to evaluate and treat patients for a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries. This includes joint replacement, sports medicine, hand surgery, and foot/ankle surgery. The site will also provide physical, occupational and speech/language therapy services.
  • Occupational Health will offer services for workforce wellness and workplace injury management to client companies from across the Boston region. It also provides travel medicine services and regulatory exams for pilot licenses, commercial drivers' licenses and green cards. It's the home of the Harvard residency program in Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
  • CHA One Cabot Care Center will be CHA's sixth outpatient Pharmacy location, providing vaccinations, expert pharmacy advice, and medications, with free home delivery.
  • A Procedure Suite will open in the fall with two procedure rooms and six recovery beds to help meet the need for routine low-risk surgeries and procedures in a more convenient, community setting.

On June 11, CHA hosted an open house to celebrate the opening of the new location, which is operated by the Davis Companies. Medford Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn, State Representatives Paul Donato, Christine Barber, and Steven Ultrino, and Medford Health Department Director MaryAnn O'Connor shared their support and attended the celebration.

"This is a major milestone for CHA as we work to fulfill our mission to improve the health of our patients and communities," said Cambridge Health Alliance CEO Assaad Sayah, MD. "We know that one of the most pressing issues today is access to health care, especially convenient care close to home. This amazing facility is part of the solution."
