CHA Becomes Sports Medicine Provider for Everett High School

Everett High School is CHA's fifth community partner for high school athletics.

EVERETT, Mass.– Cambridge Health Alliance has entered a sports medicine partnership with Everett High School Athletics, having established similar associations with Somerville High School, Cambridge Rindge and Latin, Revere High School, Malden High School and Lesley University.

Orthopedic surgeon David Wing, MD, will monitor the health of student athletes while providing access to sports medicine, oversight of athletic training staff and sideline coverage for Everett home games. CHA's physical therapy group, led by Nick Wilson, will offer in-season screening and conditioning programs as well as specialized care to support injured athletes.

Dr. Wing and Jason Freedman, MD, are both fellowship trained and board certified orthopaedic sports medicine surgeons, providing operative and non-operative care for athletes of all ages. Dr. Wing's local orthopedic and sports medicine training at Mass. General Hospital and New England Baptist Hospital allowed him to learn his craft while treating athletes at Harvard University, as well as assisting with players for the New England Patriots and Boston Celtics, Bruins and Red Sox.

"The care we provided to those professional and collegiate athletes is my ‘standard of care' for all athletes," Dr. Wing explained. "Our goal is to provide the highest level of care and ensure easy access to safe, effective care. Everett Football has a long tradition of excellence and we strive to excel at the same level with the care we provide."

"Partnering with Everett High School is a natural fit for CHA, furthering our reach and exposure within the community, and aiming to connect more people to the care they need right here in their neighborhood," said Nick Wilson.

"Many of the student athletes have limited resources and tremendous potential, and this is really an opportunity to elevate their already outstanding achievements," he added. "Supporting underserved student athletes and extending our reach to their families and friends is deeply connected to our mission and values as an organization. It's a privilege to be in a position to support great work and great kids."
