Mayors Proclaim October 29 CHA Cares Day

Pictured left to right is Claude Jacob, chief public health officer for the Cambridge Public Health Department, Josh Posner, Chair CHA Board of Trustees, Cambridge Mayor Marc McGovern, Assaad Sayah, MD, CHA Interim CEO, Mary Cassesso, CHA chief community officer, and Cambridge City Manager Louis DePasquale.

Cambridge Mayor Marc McGovern, Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone and Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria came together and declared October 29 "CHA Cares Day" via official proclamations. Each recognized CHA as integral to the health of the communities north of Boston, including Somerville, Cambridge and Everett.

Mayor McGovern and city officials representing Mayors Curtatone and DeMaria gathered at CHA locations on October 29 and read the proclamations at special events with CHA staff and providers. The day also involved a series of community cleanups around CHA's three hospitals in Cambridge, Somerville and Everett. More than 100 CHA staff and providers participated in the beautification efforts.

"We were thrilled to see a powerful display of local support for CHA's mission of caring for everyone last week during CHA Cares Day," said CHA Interim CEO Assaad Sayah, MD. "Partnerships with the Mayors of these three communities, and all of the cities/towns in our service area, are pivotal to CHA's ability to bring care to the people."

Care to the people is CHA's rally cry that reflects a passion to reduce barriers to care and advocate for change. Learn more.
