TEACHING AND RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is a nationally renowned healthcare system with strong clinical, academic, and research programs. As a regional provider with a strong public health and academic infrastructure, the Alliance has become the premier site for clinicians interested in teaching and research within a community-based setting.

Teaching

Today, we are proud to have multiple academic affiliations with some of the nations finest schools:

CHA now offers 16 residency and training programs in a variety of disciplines including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Psychiatry, Psychology, Podiatric Surgery, Social Work, and Nursing.

Medical Students and residents rotate through many of our departments, offering a myriad of teaching opportunities for interested physicians. In 2004, we created the Integrated Clerkship Program for a group of third year students at Harvard Medical School. Innovative in its interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach, the clerkship replaced the traditional block rotations with a year-long immersion into ambulatory care. Click here for more on this new approach.

Research

Cambridge Health Alliance fosters an active and collaborative research environment. Many Alliance faculty and staff are actively involved with research, most extensively in the Departments of Medicine and Psychiatry. Additionally we are one of the founding members for The Institute for Community Health (ICH) which is an organization dedicated to improving the health of the Cambridge and Somerville communities. They strive to create innovative programs and health policies through a community based approach.

The Alliance strongly values research as the foundation for improving the quality of care. Much of this current research involves health policy, the evaluation of health services, disparities in care and quality improvements. Our Research endeavors are strengthened by our university affiliations and our public health mission. Click here for more on current research efforts.
