This course is geared toward primary care, orthopedist and allied health professionals in academic and community settings who care for competitive athletes. The course is designed to provide health care professionals with up-to-date knowledge concerning diagnosis, management and prevention of a variety of injuries commonly suffered in sports participation and to emphasize unique factors that must be addressed when providing the highest quality of care to the competitive athlete.
There will be an emphasis on surgical and nonsurgical management of upper and lower extremity injuries as well as evaluation, diagnosis, management and treatment of medical issues related to the athlete.
Upon completion of the course, physicians will be better able to evaluate and treat both surgical and nonsurgical injuries and illnesses and all participants will be more competent in the care of competitive athletes resulting in improved patient outcomes.
Much of the material will be presented in lecture format by our best teachers and clinicians.
