Patients who are cared for by our gynecologists can feel confident that they are being cared for by people who truly understand their needs. We offer routine gynecology, surgical gynecology and specialized adolescent gynecology - all designed to meet the needs of women throughout all the stages of life, from adolescent years, to pregnancy, through menopause and beyond.

Routine Gynecology

Patients can see one of our expert gynecologists at a number of our neighborhood health centers and at our women's health centers at The Cambridge Hospital and Somerville Hospital. Routine medical screenings and treatments include:

  • Annual Pap and pelvic examinations
  • Contraception and family planning
  • Cervical Cancer screenings
  • Diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted disease
  • Infertility treatments and support
  • Abnormal Pap Smear management
  • Abnormal bleeding
  • Premenstrual syndrome
  • Endometriosis
  • Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT)
  • Menopause management and support
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Vaginitis
Surgical Gynecology

Our experienced gynecological surgical team offers complete minimally invasive surgical services for benign gynecological cases and major gynecological surgeries such as:

  • Hysterectomy
  • Laparoscopy
  • Hysteroscopy
  • Sterilization
Adolescent Gynecology

To meet the needs of the community, we have established an Adolescent Gynecology specialty. Through this service, we provide medical staff with expertise in gynecologic issues that are common in a younger population, as well as provide a setting which is sensitive to the concerns of adolescents. This service is available at several Alliance sites, including the Teen Health Center in Cambridge and the Somerville Teen Connection, and Everett Teen Health Center.

Menopause Issues

Many of our gynecologists have clinical interests in the treatment of menopause. Menopause actually includes three stages: perimenopause (early symptoms), menopause and post-menopause (when menopause transition has ended). While staying current about the latest findings on hormone replacement, our doctors will discuss with you the many conventional and alternative therapies for your stage. Then you and your doctor will decide what treatment is best for your case. Our doctors also advise patients about strategies to help manage the unique stresses that can come during this transition. This advice is often offered during office visits, as well as in "Managing Menopause" seminars.
