1000th baby born at the Cambridge Birth Center
The Cambridge Birth Center welcomed Cormac James Camlin on August
13 at 11:10 PM as our 1000th baby. Weighing over 9lbs, Cormac was
helped into the world by mom Jennifer, dad Alex, and 10 year-old
sister Aisling. The birth was also attended by Connie Breece, CNM,
and Younghee Kwon, RN.
The Birth Center staff would like to thank all who made our journey
to our 1000th baby possible. We look forward to our next 1000!
About the Birth Center
As one of the many women's health services of the Cambridge Health
Alliance, The Cambridge Birth Center opened its doors in December
1997 in a renovated Victorian home. Our center's intimate atmosphere
provides a truly homelike experience for women and their families
who are looking for an alternative to a traditional hospital birth.
We are recognized by the American
Association of Birth Centers and the American
College of Nurse-Midwives.

Comfortable Birth Rooms... The Cambridge Birth Center provides
three comfortable birth rooms with deep bathtubs or Jacuzzis, a
family room, kitchen, living room and garden. We also have a small
children's play area, an elevator for handicapped access, and 3
exam rooms for prenatal and gynecological care.
Freedom to move about… Supported by family and friends during labor,
you have the freedom to move about the birth center and garden.
Our Cambridge Doulas can provide additional support during labor
and postpartum home support, should you need it.
A very personal touch… With warm hearts and caring hands, you will
receive personal care from our staff of skilled professionals who
understand the physical, emotional and cultural needs of women.
From the beginning of pregnancy through birth and postpartum, the
choices are yours, as you work with your midwife to create your
own unique childbirth experience.
Childbirth is truly a family event… Understanding that childbirth
is truly a family event, we support and encourage your family to
play an active role in welcoming your baby.
Who can use The Cambridge Birth Center?
We support the natural process of pregnancy and childbirth. Many
pregnancies and births do not require the care or interventions
available in a hospital. If your pregnancy is healthy and without
medical problems, the Cambridge Birth Center is a safe and satisfying
option for the birth of your baby.
In the event of hospital care… In the event that hospital care
is needed by you or your baby, a timely transfer will be made to
our new maternity suite at the Cambridge campus, located across
the street from the Cambridge Birth Center. The midwives will continue
to provide your care with the assistance of our obstetricians or
pediatricians, when necessary.
