ABOUT THE TRANS TAHOE RELAY SWIM IN NEVADA AND CALIFORNIA
The swimmers who are members of the relay team planning to participate
in the swim across Lake Tahoe are all over the age of 50 and are
members of the United States Masters Swimming Organization (USMS)**.
They call themselves the Mighty Mermaids and will be participating
in the swim on July 19, 2008 which is called the TRANS TAHOE RACE.
This race is a swimming competition hosted by the Olympic Club,
a swim team from the San Francisco, California area. There are a
maximum of 150, six-person teams that swim across an 11.4 mile section
of Lake Tahoe, Nevada and California. It is a rigorous event not
only due to the water temperature of 58 degrees, but the distance
and conditions of the race.
The Mighty Mermaids have six of the top female swimmers in the
50-54 age group, ranked in the United States and the World, to swim
this race. With their character, determination and achievements,
they are determined to cross the finish line first overall.
The Mighty Mermaids ask for your support by making a contribution
to benefit the Cambridge Breast Center at Cambridge Health Alliance.
