2008-9 Housestaff Salary & Benefits

The following salary and benefits are set out in the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the Committee of Interns and Residents/SEIU and Cambridge Health Alliance.

Professional Education Stipend

Hospital pays 85% of premium. Several HMOs are available, including Harvard Pilgrim and BCBS.

Moonlighting

$70/hour in Emergency Dept.

Family Medicine

 

Not Currently Offered

Psychiatry 1st Moonlighter

$100/hour plus $75 base pay per call

 

Psychiatry 2nd Moonlighter

$175/hour

 

Emergency Absence Pay

 

Medicine

 

 

$250 per weeknight $350 weekend day shift and
$450 weekend/holiday overnight.

House Officer called in to do extra on-call for a colleague out sick, on leave, etc.

 

Podiatry

If called to serve as 1st assist in OR for non-foot/
Ankle surgery, will be paid $50/hour.

 

Sick Time

15 days per year / accrued from year to year

 

Leaves of Absence:

 

Illness

Family Medical Leave Act - up to 12 week unpaid leave for serious illness or serious illness of spouse, parent or child. Use sick and disability insurance to make this leave paid.

 

Maternity Leave

Up to six months for birth, care or adoption of a child. This policy is also extended to any House Officer who assumes primary care of a newborn or adopted child in his/her immediate household. Use sick and vacation time to make this a paid leave.

 

Parental

14 days leave to attend birth, adoption or care of a child. Use sick and/or vacation time to make this a paid leave.

 

Personal Days

2 days per year. Must be approved by Program Director and planned at least 3 weeks in advance. Use sick time to make this a paid leave.

 

Bereavement

Up to 3 days paid leave. With Program Director's approval, can extend this leave by using sick time.
