JOINT PUBLIC HEALTH BOARD

The Joint Public Health Board is an 18-member oversight group that:

  • Establishes public health/community health improvement policies for Cambridge Health Alliance
  • Provides oversight and coordination of community health improvement efforts that span both Cambridge and Somerville, Massachusetts.

This includes:

- Reviewing task force reports, program presentations and strategies utilized for public health/ community health improvement

- Providing advice and policy direction to staff regarding emerging public health/community health issues

- Reviewing and providing policy direction to staff regarding public health and community health gap analysis and program
development

  • Acts as a vehicle to coordinate the work of various health task forces within the Alliance with outside interests
  • Develops and empowers community based leadership for community health improvement

The 18 board members are appointed to three-year terms. Representation includes eight members from each city, the Cambridge Health Alliance CEO, and a representative from the Mount Auburn Hospital. One individual serves for one year as co-chair and then a year as chairperson.

 

 

The Joint Public Health Board meetings are scheduled the third Wednesday of the month, 5:30-7:30 at the Somerville Hospital cafeteria conference room.
