Psychology Training Directors

Kimberlyn Leary, Ph.D., ABPP
Director of Psychology and Psychology Training, Cambridge Health Alliance; Associate Professor of Psychology, Harvard Medical School

Kimberlyn Leary received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor where she also completed a Post-doctoral Fellowship. She is also a graduate of the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. Before joining CHA, Dr. Leary was the Associate Director of the University of Michigan Psychological Clinic and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the University of Michigan's Department of Psychology. She is also currently a faculty affiliate at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School and a faculty member at both the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute and the Psychoanalytic Institute of New England. Dr. Leary's clinical and research interests focus on the role of race and culture in clinical treatment, supervision and in organizations. Other interests are focused at interdisciplinary work at the intersection of clinical practice and conflict management, including the study of influence, innovation and collaborative problem-solving. She holds a diplomate in clinical psychology. Last year she studied public administration at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University on a Public Service Fellowship.

 

 

 

 

Marla Eby, Ph.D.
Associate Director of Psychology and Psychology Training, Cambridge Health Alliance; Assistant Professor of Psychology, Harvard Medical School

Marla Eby received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University and completed her internship at The Cambridge Hospital (now part of Cambridge Health Alliance). She has worked in a variety of positions since 1988, including Chief Psychologist on both adult and child inpatient units, and Associate Director of Psychology. Dr. Eby also serves the Psychology Division as Director of Post-Doctoral Training and the Psychiatry Department as Director of Supervision. She is currently on the Board of APPIC. Dr. Eby has a longstanding interest in psychological assessment and teaches courses related to testing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at Harvard University. Other major interests include long-term treatment of psychotic patients, issues of envy and jealousy, the history of the asylum, and presentation of psychological themes in museum exhibits. She also has a strong commitment to the care of the severely mentally ill, particularly in the public sector.

 


Patricia Harney, Ph.D.

Associate Director of Psychology and Psychology Training, Cambridge Health Alliance; Instructor, Harvard Medical School

Patricia Harney received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kansas, and completed her internship at The Cambridge Hospital. She then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at CHA's Victims of Violence Program, and a post-graduate fellowship in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. She serves as the Director of Psychology Internship Training at CHA. Her publications pertain to the psychotherapeutic treatment of trauma, and clinical collaboration across disciplines. In addition to this specialization, her clinical interests include the influence of culture, class, gender and sexual identity in self development and the psychotherapeutic process.

 

Ethan L. Seidman, Ph.D.
Managing Director of Psychology Half-time Training at Cambridge Health Alliance, Instructor, Harvard Medical School

Ethan L. Seidman received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston and completed his internship at Cambridge Health Alliance. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Program for Psychotherapy at CHA. He serves as the Managing Director of CHA's Half-time Psychology Training. Dr. Seidman's research has centered on understanding high-frequency pornography use in heterosexual men, as well as Adult Attachment theory. His clinical interests include finding effective integrative psychodynamic approaches in psychotherapy with adults across the diagnostic spectrum.
