Denise Balian, OTR/L
Denise graduated from Boston University and has practiced Occupational Therapy since 1982. While Denise has experience in Pediatrics/School Systems, Inpatient, Home Care, Ergonomics, and Administration, she has specialized in hand therapy throughout her career. With the exception of 2 years, Denise’s 30 year career has been in this organization as an outpatient hand therapist. Denise participates in extensive continuing education in advanced hand therapy practice and is an active member of the Baystate Hand Group and AOTA. Denise is the proud mother of two sons, Dave and Dan. Her youngest son, Dan, has special needs and participates in Special Olympic sports, horseback riding, dances, and Best Buddies events. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Denise loves music, cooking, and traveling.  

Alison Gernhardt Babula, MS, OTR/L, CHT
Alison attended the Boston School of Occupational Therapy at Tufts University, receiving her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy. From there she worked in Washington DC with patients who had sustained spinal cord injuries in an acute care hospital. A move to NYC brought her to the world of Upper Extremity Rehabilitation where she worked in a busy and thriving sports medicine practice, seeing various diagnoses including (but not limited to) tennis elbow, digit/wrist/elbow fractures, tendon repairs, nerve repairs and carpal tunnel syndrome. Since moving to Boston in May 2011 she has loved joining the Cambridge Health Alliance rehabilitation team. Outside of Upper Extremity Rehabilitation, Alison enjoys running, baking, exploring all that Boston has to offer and spending time with friends and family.


Michelle Rex Murphy, MS, OTR/L
Michelle Rex Murphy, MS, OTR/L has been practicing as an occupational therapist for 10 years, beginning as a COTA and now OTR, she currently specializes in hand therapy and is an ergonomic specialist for Cambridge Health Alliance. She has experience in pediatrics, long-term care, home health, inpatient, outpatient, and higher educational settings. Educated at Salem State University, where she received her masters in occupational therapy and further education in Ergonomics & Human Factors from Harvard School of Public Health. Michelle is an active member of AOTA and is constantly pursuing continuing education opportunities. She is trained in manual therapy and Saebo: Stroke rehabilitation to name a few. Michelle plans on pursuing her certification in hand therapy as well as expanding in her role as an certified ergonomic assessment specialist.  Outside of work she enjoys yoga, swimming, hiking, skiing and traveling.


Whidden Hospital Campus

Hilary Bradshaw, MS, M.Ed, OTR/L, CHT
Hilary has been an Occupational Therapist at the Whidden Hospital Campus since 1998, specializing in treatment of the hand and upper extremity. She obtained an M.S. from Tufts University/BSOT in 1994, and an M.Ed in casework and counseling from Springfield College.  Hilary has also been a Certified Hand Therapist since 2007.  Her prior experience includes acute inpatient rehabilitation, working in Traumatic Brain Injury/Neurology, Orthopaedics, Cardiac and Amputee rehabilitation.
