Mental Health Services for Older Adults
Older adults sometimes face mental health issues and may not know where to turn. At Cambridge Health Alliance, our award-winning Department of Psychiatry cares about older adults, and has several different programs that can help with behavioral, emotional, or cognitive problems.
Outpatient Care
We have expert counseling and therapy services for older adults aged 60 and older which can help people deal with problems such as depression as well as changes in behavior or mental status. Our offices are based at the Central Street Health Center in Somerville, but we also offer a home visiting program. Depending on your needs, the service may include individual counseling, family therapy, or group treatment. To find out more about these services for older adults, call our mental health referral line at 617-591-6033.

Hospital Care
Inpatient mental health services for older adults (55+) are available at our CHA Whidden Hospital Campus. These specially-designed services are provided by an expert team at our Geriatric Psychiatry Specialty Unit. Find out more about this service by clicking here.
Please note: Due to a high demand for our services, CHA is
prioritizing appointments for patients who are either enrolled in
Primary Care at CHA or are residents of our service area (Cambridge,
Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Revere, Somerville, and Winthrop, MA). If you
or your child do not meet these criteria, our staff may be able to
assist you in finding a referral service.
