New Doctors Join the CHA Malden Family Medicine Center

Malden, MA...Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) has expanded the staff at the CHA Malden Family Medicine Center with the addition of new family medicine physicians Warren Bodine, DO, Freeman Changamire, MD, ScD, Honor MacNaughton, MD, and George Maxted, MD. The physicians, who are all accepting new patients, will help improve primary care access for residents in Malden and the surrounding communities.

Warren Bodine, DO, is board certified in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine and specializes in medical management of sports injuries. He joined CHA after completing a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Christiana Care Health System, during which he served as the team physician for both Delaware State University and the University of Delaware. Dr. Bodine is part of CHA's Sports Medicine clinical program, providing medical care for several area teams including Malden High School, Boston Blazers, Boston Breakers, and Boston Cannons. He has a particular interest in sports-related concussions as well as promoting exercise for the prevention of chronic adult diseases such as diabetes and obesity.

Freeman Changamire, MD, ScD, completed his residency at the University of Washington and is board certified in Family Medicine. Originally from Zimbabwe, he worked as a medical officer for the Ministry of Health after earning his medical degree at the University of Zimbabwe. Dr. Changamire, who has a keen interest in chronic disease prevention, medical education, and research, also completed a doctorate in nutritional epidemiology at Harvard University.

Honor MacNaughton, MD, attended Harvard University and the University of Massachusetts Medical School before completing the Tufts University Family Medicine Residency. She comes to CHA following a fellowship in reproductive health advocacy at the Institute for Urban Family Health in New York. Board certified in Family Medicine, Dr. MacNaughton has presented nationally on a range of topics related to expanding family planning services offered within the family medicine setting and currently provides full-spectrum reproductive health care.

George Maxted, MD, has been an active clinician, teacher, and medical leader for more than 30 years. He most recently served as the Education Director and Vice President for Medical Services at the Family Health Center of Worcester, affiliated with the UMass Medical School. Dr. Maxted completed his residency in Family Medicine at Duke University in 1980, is board certified, and has Added Qualifications in Geriatrics. He brings extensive experience to CHA, including a 21-year tenure with the Indian Health Service as a Captain in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service. He spent five years on the Hopi Reservation and 16 years at the Southern Colorado Ute Service Unit.

With more than 30 primary care providers, the CHA Malden Family Medicine Center offers care for the entire family, including women's health and sports medicine services. The center features state-of-the-art technology, including the doctors' use of handheld computers and a new electronic medical record to improve both the quality and delivery of care. Additionally, the MyCHArt system enables patients to contact their providers for non-urgent medical matters and review their health information online.

The CHA Malden Family Medicine Center was one of five CHA centers recently selected to participate in Massachusetts' new Patient-Centered Medical Home Initiative. Designed by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services to promote comprehensive patient-centered care delivered by teams of primary care physicians, the Initiative provides training and assistance to 46 sites across the state to transform their practices over a three-year demonstration period.
