Cambridge Health Alliance Names Senior Vice President for Human Resources

Cambridge, MA…Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), which operates three hospital campuses and a network of primary and specialty care practices in Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston’s metro-north communities, has appointed Joy Curtis as its Senior Vice President for Human Resources.

In this role, Ms. Curtis will support CHA’s transition to a high-performing Accountable Care Organization, specifically in the areas of workforce development and cultural change. The appointment formalizes the duties she has covered on an interim basis since July 2011. In that time, Ms. Curtis has advanced awareness of the human resources function at CHA with an emphasis on service, initiating employee wellness efforts and strengthening the organization’s focus on diversity.

Ms. Curtis has nearly 30 years of executive-level experience in human resources and has worked extensively with clients in health care, higher education, and professional services providing organizational development, executive coaching, and training expertise. Her previous HR leadership roles include Chief People Officer at international law firm Ropes & Gray, LLP, in Boston, Vice President of Human Resources at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut, and Vice President of Human Resources at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Mass.

Ms. Curtis holds both a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Yale University and a master’s degree in business administration from Boston University. She also earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources from the Society of Human Resource Management in 2006.
