Healthcare for the Homeless

Healthcare for the Homeless provides a suite of health care services that is affordable, accessible and acceptable to homeless men, women and children. A multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and social workers provides primary care to people experiencing homelessness in the shelters, soup kitchens, drop-in centers and streets of Cambridge and Somerville.

The program operates and staffs three outreach clinics in Cambridge at the Cambridge Salvation Army, the CASPAR Emergency Service center and the St. Patrick's Women's Shelter. The CASPAR clinic is for individuals suffering from the disease of addiction. In addition, the staff provides family shelters in Cambridge with health care management services. Dental screenings are offered twice monthly at the Salvation Army site with same day treatment appointments available at the CHA Windsor Street Care Center Dental Clinic.

The staff also conducts inpatient rounds at the CHA Cambridge Hospital for homeless patients and assists inpatient medical teams with discharge planning and treatment plans for homeless patients.
