PATIENT TESTIMONIALS

Recent Letters

Recently, I was advised that I needed a cataract operation on my left eye. Eight years ago, I had one for my right eye at Mass Eye and Ear. I presumed that the second surgery would also be done at MEEI but when the surgery was scheduled, I was informed that it would be done at Whidden Hospital. I was concerned about this because I had not always heard good things about the Whidden. However, family and friends who had been there recently said it would be all right because the conditions at the hospital had much improved.

When I arrived at Whidden, right from the start everything went smoothly. Parking was very accessible and convenient and Reception was welcoming and efficient. Surgical Day Care greeted me quickly…the intake nurses, Sandy Mazza and Fran Traniello, were wonderful…the surgical team, including Dr. Kim (anesthesiology) and Evelyn Wall were assuring and helpful. At all times, staff ensured that I was warm and comfortable. Due to my overall physical condition, that was extremely important to me.

In summary, my family and I are very pleased and satisfied with the improvements made to the hospital. The staff are very efficient and professional but, more importantly, they perform their responsibilities in a friendly and accommodating manner. We appreciate that Whidden is there. It provides a better alternative than the Boston Hospitals.

From Everett:

"My husband was admitted to the hospital with a heart attack. We waited in the Emergency ward until they had a bed for him and I must make this comment - he got terrific care! ...the nurses were great and they had a sense of humor.

He was then admitted to Lewis 1 (telemetry) where again I will comment - all shifts gave him good care and they had a sense of humor.

My husband came home on Tuesday the twelfth of this month, he is doing good. I sent a thank you card to all the shifts, thanking them for the good work they do. They are a fine bunch of people."

From Chelsea:

"On Sunday about 9 PM, the Chelsea/Cataldo EMTs brought me to your Emergency ward after one of my neighbors elected to hit me in the face with a camera. (I don't think I'll be letting her borrow a cup of sugar anytime soon, but I digress...)

I am writing to thank you for how great everyone was to me. From Jacqueline in triage, to the...woman who registered me, ...to Richard and Julie in the CT suite, to Dr. Chen, Lorrraine Harper, and to Lisa who discharged me: Thank You.

Superlative care delivered with humor and kindness.

From Winthrop:

"I am writing to complement the staff in the Emergency Department and 3 West. My wife ...was treated in the ED on Tuesday of this week and was admitted the same day.

She would like to acknowledge the expertise of Dr. Epstein (ED) and Dr. Mullane (Surgery) ...In our opinion all three went above and beyond the call of duty to diagnose and treat (my wife) with extreme diligence and kindness. Their collaborative and individual efforts were outstanding.

In addition, the nursing staff on W321 was extremely kind, attentive, and knowledgeable in their treatment ...She was in excruciating pain and discomfort and the staff, both nursing and medical, including specialists, was impeccable.

We want to acknowledge and praise all of your staff's efforts and caring in her treatment. Thank you so much for all your help in caring for my wide."
