The Department of Respiratory Therapy provides respiratory care under the direction of a Pulmonologist. Inpatient and Emergency procedures are available at all three campuses with outpatient testing available at Somerville and Whidden.

  • CPR classes

Inpatient Services (all campuses):

  • Ventilator management
  • Diagnostic Pulmonary function testing
  • Chest Physical Therapy
  • Incentive Spirometry
  • Pulse Oximetry
  • Bronchodilator Therapy
  • Sputum Induction
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Arterial Punctures
  • Use of Metered Dose Inhalers, and Peak flow Meters
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea Testing (not available at Whidden)

Outpatient Testing (Somerville)

  • EKG
  • Pulmonary Function Testing: (Lung Volumes, Flow
  • Volume Loops, Diffusion Studies)
  • Arterial Punctures, and analysis
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea Testing
  • CPAP Titration Studies
  • Breath Alcohol Testing

Outpatient Testing (Whidden)

  • Pulmonary Function Testing: (Lung Volumes, Flow Volume Loops, Diffusion Studies)
  • Arterial Punctures, and analysis

Hours:
The Department of Respiratory Therapy is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at all three hospital campuses.
CPR classes are offered once per month at Somerville Hospital. Please call for details and times. (CPR classes 617-591-4050)
