CHA's Infectious Disease team helps diagnose and treat difficult infections that do not respond to normal treatments.

We are also experts in illness caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi, and those that are passed from person to person.

Why do people see an Infectious Disease (ID) doctor?

Some reasons to see us include:

  • Fevers of unknown cause
  • Difficult infections
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Hepatitis B or C
  • Disease transmitted by ticks (Lyme, Babesia, Ehrlichia)
  • All kinds of flu
  • Travel related illnesses such as malaria or diarrhea
  • Pre-travel advice
  • Sexually-transmitted diseases

Understanding your specific health need is the first step toward effective treatment. Your infectious disease doctor will help make a diagnosis by obtaining a detailed history and doing a physical exam. Sometimes tests such as laboratory work or x-rays will be needed.

Services:

  • Consults for infectious disease diagnosis and treatment
  • Comprehensive care for TB and HIV/AIDS
