The CHA Cardiovascular Lab provides diagnostic testing to assist physicians determine the health of the circulatory system. Staff consists of a Medical Director, a Cardiovascular Manager, a Supervising Technologist, Cardiovascular Technologists, and an EKG Technician. Cardiovascular testing is available on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

Prioritization of studies is based on medical acuity of patients. ICU patients are designated as high priority for scheduling. Occasionally, upon request of the Medical Director, staff are called in on off hours to perform emergent exams, nearly exclusively consisting of echocardiography to exclude pericardial tamponade or assess wall motion in patients with cardiovascular shock. Radiology provides after hours LENI’s (Lower extremity noninvasive studies) for suspected deep vein thrombosis.

Services:

  • Exercise or pharmacologic stress testing (with or without nuclear or ultrasound imaging)
  • Holter monitoring
  • Echocardiography including color flow imaging (trans-thoracic and trans-esophageal technique)
  • Comprehensive pulmonary function testing
  • EKG
  • Non-invasive arterial and venous studies including duplex imaging and color flow mapping
