Memory Testing Services
The Cambridge Health Alliance Neuropsychiatry and Memory Center
is a consultative service that helps to evaluate adults of any age
with cognitive impairment, memory loss, or related behavioral problems.
The Cambridge Health Alliance Neuropsychiatry and Memory Center
brings together experts from Psychiatry, Neurology, Psychology,
Social Services and Internal Medicine. Together, this team works
with patients, families, and caregivers to understand the cause
of these problems and provide options for management and care.
Expert Evaluation and Testing
- Each Neuropsychiatry and Memory Center patient will get an
Initial Evaluation from a Psychiatrist or Neurologist at our site
in the Medical Specialties Clinic at the Somerville Hospital.
- Patients may be referred for formal Neuropsychological Testing
to assess their thinking and memory skills.
- Patients may have a brain imaging study, laboratory testing,
and a complete neurological/psychiatric examination.
- Patients may also see an Internist to help identify any underlying
medical conditions.
Personal Service
After testing is complete, a Behavioral Neurologist or Psychiatrist
will review the findings with the patient and family/caregivers.
A report will also be sent to your doctor and other providers involved
in the case. Local patients may be referred to Somerville-Cambridge
Elder Services, who provide support for caregivers and help with
long-term care planning.
