RESEARCH
The Department of Psychiatry values scholarly work and research
as the foundation for improving the quality of clinical care and
considers them essential for determining the efficacy of methods
of care and for disseminating these methods to the larger professional
community. Throughout the training year, Fellows are encouraged
to pursue scholarly work and research interests and will be supported
in their endeavors.
Fellows will be expected to produce some scholarly activity. This
could take the form of a major presentation, written paper or research
project. Our mentoring system has successfully supported Fellows
applying for research awards, Livingston and DuPont-Warren Fellowships
from Harvard Medical School, and American Psychiatric Association/NIMH
Research Training Grants. Cross-fertilization between psychiatry
and psychology faculty at Harvard has widened the scope of resources
and choices.
