CHA RESPONDS TO THE DISASTER IN HAITI

NOTICE OF MEETING

February 8, 2010. There is a Haitian TPS Information Session (USCIS) taking place on: Monday, February 8, 2010 in Everett, MA. The location is the Parlin Memorial Library, 410 Broadway.. The time is 6:00-8:00 PM.

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) was granted in January to Haitians living in the US in response to the recent earthquake.


PAST EVENTS

January 22, 2010, the Haitian Coalition will hosted a community meeting at the Healey Elementary School in Somerville.

This meeting provided accurate information about Temporary Protected Status (TPS), which was granted in January to Haitians living in the US in response to the recent earthquake.

The Haitian Coalition wants to ensure that those who are eligible for this protected status understand: (1) what the TPS designation means (2) the process and time frame for applying. January 14, 2010. Cambridge Health Alliance, in collaboration with the City of Cambridge, held an open community forum. This allowed members from the public who were directly affected by the earthquake of January 12, 2010 to share their feelings and concerns about the aftermath of the earthquake. All members from the public were invited to attend.

Healthcare professionals and interpreters were on-site to support members. Emmanuelle Dupiton from Haitian Consulate of Boston was in attendance to share how the Haitian Consulate of Boston can assist members during this difficult time.

Counseling is also available to residents of Cambridge, Somerville, Malden, Chelsea, Revere, Everett, and Winthrop or to those who have a primary care provider at Cambridge Health Alliance by calling 617-665-3980.
