The Cambridge Birth Center provides a homelike experience for women and their families looking for a natural alternative to a traditional hospital birth. We are located in a beautifully-renovated Victorian home on the grounds of the CHA Cambridge hospital campus.
The Cambridge Birth Center is operated by the Cambridge Midwives and the CHA Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. We are recognized by the American Association of Birth Centers and the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
Our spacious living room has a television and VCR, tape player, and a toy box for children. Original paintings and birth art, donated by patients and midwives, decorate the walls to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The kitchen is beautifully renovated and fully applianced with microwave, refrigerator, range/oven and icemaker. Crackers, snacks, juice and ginger ale are available for laboring women. Families are encouraged to cook or bake during their stay!
Our upstairs family room contains a television and VCR, a selection of children's videos, a toy corner for kids complete with child-size furniture, and a comfortable sleeper sofa for tired guests.
Our most popular birth room - is decorated with original Bessie Pease Gutmann prints. There's an original fireplace (non-working), a queen-size bed and a large bathroom with a double-sized tub.
The Caribbean Birth Room offers a beautiful island theme and décor. The tropical setting includes a double-size bed and a peach colored bathroom complete with a tiled corner tub.
The Cambridge Birth Center is proud to help growing families get a healthy start. We recently celebrated the birth of our 1,000th baby, and we are looking forward to the next 1,000!
