Cambridge Health Alliance's Child Assessment Unit
Inspires Bestselling Novelist
Book signing with Lisa Gardner on Wednesday, July 14, at
Porter Square Books in Cambridge, Mass.
Cambridge, MA…On Wednesday, July 14, at 7 p.m., Cambridge
Health Alliance (CHA) will co-sponsor a book signing by New York
Times bestselling author Lisa Gardner at Porter Square Books
in Cambridge.
Gardner, a New England resident, visited CHA's Child Assessment
Unit nearly a year ago and met with staff including nurse manager
Kathy Regan, RN, to conduct research for her new suspense novel
Live to Tell (Bantam Books, July 2010), which is set in a
pediatric psychiatry unit. She found the experience uplifting and
has expressed her gratitude in Live to Tell, acknowledging
Kathy and the unit as a "first-class operation." Booklist
called the book a "gripping thriller" that "ends
with a resolution that is creatively and emotionally appropriate."
Regan has received national acclaim for establishing a new standard
for psychiatric inpatient care by adopting a more humane, trauma-sensitive
treatment model for patients. Earlier this year, she received the
2009 Award for Innovation from the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
A portion of the book sales from the signing will be donated to
the CHA's Alliance Foundation for Community Health to support the
Child Assessment Unit, which is housed at CHA's Cambridge Hospital
campus. All are invited to attend this free event. Porter Square
Books is located at 25 White St. in Cambridge. For more information,
