Cambridge Health Alliance Names New ED Nurse Manager
for Somerville Hospital Campus
New hire supports Somerville's standing as top
ED in region
Somerville, MA…Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a Harvard-affiliated
public healthcare system that serves Cambridge, Somerville, and
Boston's Metro-North region, has appointed Be-Verlyn Navarro, RN,
as the new Emergency Department (ED) Nurse Manager for its Somerville
Hospital campus.
Navarro has been a valuable asset to the CHA community since her
arrival as a board-certified ED staff nurse at CHA's Whidden Hospital
campus in 2006. She advanced to a managerial role in 2009.
Her clinical and administrative experience will enhance the care
provided at the 24-hour Somerville Hospital ED, which, by many metrics,
ranks among the best in the nation. Over the past three months,
the ED's Press Ganey patient satisfaction scores ranked it first
in Massachusetts and among the top 10 EDs nationally. New rapid
assessment protocols ensure that patients are seen by a nurse within
two minutes of arrival and by a doctor in an average of 20 minutes,
making Somerville one of the fastest emergency departments in the
country.
Additionally, the implementation of an electronic patient tracking
system and the introduction of patient greeters both have contributed
to improved patient flow. In 2010, the Somerville Hospital ED is
expected to register over 22,000 patient visits.
