Cambridge Health Alliance Names New Chief Nursing
Officer
Cambridge,
MA…Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a Harvard-affiliated public
healthcare system that serves Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston's
Metro-North region, has appointed Elizabeth Cadigan, RN, MSN,
as its new Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief
Nursing Officer.
Cadigan comes to CHA from Quincy Medical Center, where she served
for nine years as the Vice President of Patient Care Services and
Chief Nursing Officer. She provided oversight for numerous clinical
services including nursing, emergency services, ambulatory operations,
and infection control. She also led and achieved the first national
accreditation of the hospital's Cancer Care Program, fostered the
development of a Regional Staff Nurse Council, managed multiple
successful regulatory surveys, and designed and implemented a palliative
care program which won the 2009 Excellence in End-of-Life Care Award
presented by Beacon Hospice. Prior to her tenure at Quincy Medical
Center, Cadigan was Director of Nursing Operations at Boston Medical
Center for eight years.
Highly respected statewide for leadership and patient advocacy,
Cadigan is Past President of the Massachusetts Organization of Nurse
Executives and has served on the boards of many other agencies and
organizations, including the Massachusetts Hospital Association,
South Shore Elder Services, and Boston Healing Hands. Additionally,
she holds a longstanding commitment to the elderly and supports
programs that help families manage illness and address end-of-life
decisionmaking.
Cadigan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Salve
Regina University and her Master of Science degree in Adult/Gerontological
Nursing from Boston University.
