Cambridge Health Alliance Expands Orthopaedics
Services at Whidden Hospital Campus
Everett, MA…Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a Harvard-affiliated
public healthcare system, has introduced a new orthopaedic team
at CHA's Whidden Hospital campus. The team, which features five
board-certified surgeons, expands Whidden's capacity to treat a
wide range of acute and chronic health needs.
CHA's orthopaedics department diagnoses and treats injuries and
conditions that affect the bones, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and
joints. This includes everything from evaluating strains and splinting
broken bones to performing complex reconstructive surgeries after
an accident.
Joining the surgeons on the Whidden orthopaedics staff are physiatrists
and physician assistants. The team provides both non-surgical treatments
and minimally invasive procedures. Among the available services
are arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement, hand/wrist surgery,
and care for arthritis, back pain, muscle injuries, and disc degeneration.
Additionally, patients benefit from the expertise of CHA's sports
medicine department, which is the official sports medicine provider
of several area professional sports teams, including the Boston
Blazers (indoor lacrosse) and Boston Breakers (women's soccer).
Increased orthopaedics coverage improves quality at the Whidden
Hospital campus and, combined with rehab and radiology services
at the campus, enables patients to receive comprehensive expert
care all at one site. Whidden orthopaedics staff hold regular office
hours and see patients in the hospital's 24-hour emergency department.
