Cambridge Health Alliance CEO Dennis Keefe Named Mass. Healthcare Executive of the Year
Cambridge, MA…The American College of Healthcare Executives
(ACHE) honored Dennis D. Keefe, Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge
Health Alliance (CHA), with its 2009 Massachusetts Healthcare Executive
of the Year Award. The presentation was made earlier this month
at the Massachusetts Hospital Association Annual Meeting in Chatham,
Mass.
The award was given to Keefe by Andrea Beloff, ACHE's Regent for
Massachusetts and Senior Administrative Director of Radiation Oncology
at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The 2009 Massachusetts
Healthcare Executive of the Year Award recognizes ACHE affiliates
who are experienced in the field and have significantly contributed
toward the advancement of healthcare management excellence and the
achievement of the goals of ACHE.
Recipients are selected based on leadership ability, innovative
and creative management, executive capability in developing their
own organization and promoting its growth and stature in the community,
contributions to the development of others in the healthcare profession,
leadership in local and/or state hospital and health association
activities, participation in civic/community activities and projects,
and participation in ACHE activities and interest in assisting ACHE
in achieving its objectives.
"This award is especially gratifying given the difficult year
that all of us at Cambridge Health Alliance have experienced,"
said Keefe. "I am honored to accept it on behalf of all of
the men and women at CHA. It is their dedication, commitment, and
passion that have made it possible for me to be the recipient of
this great award."
Keefe has served as Cambridge Health Alliance's CEO since 2002.
Before that, he served as Chief Operating Officer at CHA. In addition
to his membership with the ACHE, he serves on the executive committee
of the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems
and on the board of the National Public Health and Hospital Institute,
and he is an officer of the Massachusetts Hospital Association.
In 2008, he was honored with a lifetime achievement award from Health
Care for All for his efforts to improve access to medical care in
Massachusetts.
Keefe received both his bachelor's degree and his master's degree
in business administration from Northeastern University. He was
named Northeastern's Alumnus of the Year in 2005. Keefe lives in
Norwood, Mass., with his wife Laura.
