Cambridge Health Alliance's Cancer Program Receives National
Accreditation with Commendation
Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Revere, Somerville,
Winthrop, MA…Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) announced today
that its Oncology service has received continued national accreditation
from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. This
comes after a detailed evaluation of CHA's cancer program and an
on-site survey that examined CHA's commitment to quality care, ongoing
program improvements, and public accountability.
During the survey, the Commission on Cancer found no deficiencies,
which allowed it to designate CHA as a Community Hospital Cancer
Program with Commendation. Of the 45 institutions accredited in
Massachusetts in the community hospital category, only 12 have received
this level of distinction.
"Having a nationally accredited cancer program validates the
quality of our care and the skills of our team," said C. Douglas
Taylor, MD, CHA's Chief of Oncology. "It also illustrates that
we provide excellent care in related areas, like our Cambridge Breast
Center and the GI Center at our Somerville Hospital campus. Over
the past several years, we have continued to improve our testing
and treatment services, and we hope that our communities will see
this as one more reason they can trust us for their care."
