Cambridge Health Alliance Honored for Environmental Sustainability Efforts

Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Revere, Somerville, Winthrop, MA...Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) announced today it has received the 2007 Partner Recognition Award presented by Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (H2E). CHA, including all of its hospital campuses in Cambridge, Somerville, and Everett, was recognized as an example of how hospitals can and should improve the environment while maintaining quality patient care.

Since 2002, H2E has honored deserving health care facilities and organizational partners for their remarkable achievements in improving the environmental performance of the health care industry. The award is CHA's fifth, having won it every year since its inception. CHA was the only Massachusetts hospital system to receive the Partner Recognition Award and one of six in the state (out of 128 nationally) to be recognized by H2E for environmental leadership.

H2E was jointly founded by the American Hospital Association, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Health Care Without Harm, and the American Nurses Association. H2E educates health care professionals about pollution prevention opportunities and provides a wealth of practical tools and resources to facilitate the industry’s movement toward environmental sustainability.
