Cambridge Health Alliance Honors Academic Achievement and Community Service With Annual Estelle Paris Scholarship
Cambridge, MA…Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is accepting applications for the annual Estelle Paris Scholarship, a cash award (ranging from $500 to $1,500) given to residents of Cambridge who are interested in pursuing careers in health care. Individuals who apply for the scholarship are selected on the basis of academic and personal achievement and commitment to community service.
The scholarship is named after Estelle Paris, RN-C, ANP, a member of the Cambridge Health Alliance Board and a former nurse practitioner who retired after over twenty years of service in neighborhood health centers throughout Cambridge. It was established after CHA’s The Cambridge Hospital received the 1993 Foster G. McGaw Prize, a prestigious award given annually by the American Hospital Association and the Baxter Allegiance Foundation to one hospital in the nation that demonstrates excellence in community service. The City of Cambridge matched the McGaw cash prize and formed a scholarship fund, which made its first round of awards in 1995. The number of scholarships and their dollar amounts are determined annually.
To be eligible, applicants must reside in Cambridge, be currently enrolled in a program leading to a health care career, and have a strong academic record. Applicants must complete an application and submit a personal statement. Applications are due on May 16, 2007.
