CAMBRIDGE HEALTH ALLIANCE APPOINTS NEW CHIEF NURSING OFFICER

MA…. Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) announces the arrival of
Thomas Smith, RN as Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services
and Chief Nursing Officer. |
Smith
joins CHA from Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York where he worked
for 10 years, most recently as Chief Nursing Officer where he led
the work that resulted in Mount Sinai's designation as a Magnet
Hospital for nursing excellence.
Smith
has roots here in New England as he previously worked at Massachusetts
General Hospital as Chief of Intensive Care and Pediatric Nursing
Services and at Boston City Hospital as Director of Nursing and
Chief Nurse Executive. Smith is a nationally known nursing leader
and has published extensively.
He
earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Brown where he graduated
Magna cum Laude. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
at the University of the State of New York, and later a Master of
Science in Medical-Surgical Nursing at the Boston University School
of Nursing. He is also finishing his doctoral degree at the Case
Western Reserve University School of Nursing.
Smith
has been involved in numerous professional organizations including;
the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the American Organization
of Nurse Executives, National Student Nurses Association and the
Advisory Board of Nursing Spectrum. He has also earned significant
awards including the Grace Davidson Award from the College of Nursing
at New York University and the Distinguished Service Award, the
Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing Almunae Association.
