GENERAL PRACTICE DENTAL RESIDENCY

The General Practice Dental Residency program at Cambridge Health Alliance is a one-year experience for six general practice residents. The program is affiliated with Harvard School of Dental Medicine and accredited by the American Dental Association.

Residents will have required rotations in several clinical areas including ambulatory, emergency, and inpatient dental care settings. Approximately 70% of the experience will be clinical dental services, 25% hospital rotations/activities, and 5% didactic courses.

Hospital rotations and activities will occur principally at The Cambridge Hospital. The main clinical dental sites are the Windsor Street Health Center and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.


Program goals and objectives

1. Provide training to prepare general dentists for a satisfying and stable career in community dentistry

2. Provide a high level of comprehensive dental services to patients seeking care

3. Enhance the residents' knowledge in all phases of general dentistry

4. Provide training in the care of racially and culturally diverse population groups

5. Train residents to provide dental care in a hospital setting
