A National Reputation
We are proud to have been recognized by the National
Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems, the Robert
Wood Johnson Foundation, the American Hospital Association
and others for health care innovation and community excellence.
Many of our programs have now become national models for community
health and patient care (see more in
Awards).
Health information technology continues to play a major role
in our system as we improve patient care. We have made significant
IT investments, including an electronic medical record (EMR)
system for all points of care. To find out more about EMR,

We have also developed nationally recognized academic and
clinical programs that positively impact patient care. Examples
include:
- The
Harvard Medical School - Cambridge Integrated Clerkship
- a complete redesign of the principal clinical year in
medical school that serves as a model for clinical education
reform nationally and internationally. It fosters students'
learning through close and continuous contact with patients
in the disciplines of internal medicine, neurology, obstetrics-gynecology,
pediatrics, psychiatry and surgery.
- The Child
Assessment Unit - a nationally recognized leader
that has established a new standard for psychiatric inpatient
care for young children by eliminating restraints and adopting
a more humane, trauma-sensitive treatment model for patients.
- The
Patient and Family Advisory Council - a community
group that helps CHA achieve its goals as a patient-centered
healthcare system, setting a high standard for collaboration
by integrating patients' input into clinical decisions.
