About our Occupational Therapy Services
Occupational Therapy helps people of all ages participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. The practitioners at CHA specialize in the rehabilitation of the upper extremity. Occupational Therapists collaborate with the referring physicians and use a client-centered approach to ensure the most favorable therapeutic outcome for the patient. We treat the following conditions/injuries of the upper extremity:
- Cumulative trauma disorders, repetitive stress injuries, tendonitis
- Muscle strains, tears and avulsions
- Arthritis and rheumatic diseases
- Fractures
- Amputations
- Crush injuries or trauma
- Dislocations and subluxations
- Tendon/nerve injuries and conditions
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Complex regional pain syndrome
- Wounds and scars
- Ligamentous injury and instability
- Thermal and electrical injuries
The Occupation Therapy approach to rehabilitation is a holistic one that goes beyond an isolated upper extremity injury to include the entire person and each individual’s functional needs and roles. The ultimate goal is the client’s return to participation in his or her daily activities.
